IG cancels appointment of Bugweri  officer over forged academic documents

KAMPALA, Uganda Inspectorate of Government has canceled the appointment of Bugweri District Natural Resources officer over forged academic documents

The IG Ms Anne Twinomugisha directed the Bugweri District Chief Administrative Officer Mr William Makune to submit Mr Fredrick Womakuyu Weduku to the District Service Commission to cancel the minute of appointing him to the position of District Natural Resources for lack of the requisite qualifications

Ms Anne Twinomugisha also requested for the officer to be transferred to police for further investigations. This came after investigations by the IG Jinja Regional Office revealed that Mr Womakuyu presented the forged documents to secure employment within the district.

According to the IG, the Ministry of Public Service job descriptions and specifications for this position state one must hold a bachelor’s degree of science in either forestry, wetlands management, environmental studies, land management or any other relevant science degree plus a postgraduate qualification in management studies from a recognised institution. and at least 9 years of working experience, three of which at a principal level in a natural resource management environment.

However, Mr Womakuyu claimed to have previously worked with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and the National Environment Management Authority; however, both organisations denied having employed him.
