Law Society castigates Advocate Mudiobole’s arrest. Security acted out of law.

KAMPALA, Uganda| The Uganda Law Society has castigated the recent arrests and abductions by the security personnel in what they termed the” irregular arrest ”and detention of Advocate Abed Nasser Mudiobole.

This was During their weekly press briefing today, the society’s treasurer, Isiko Arthur, castigated the circumstances surrounding Mudiobole’s arrest and subsequent detention by unidentified security operatives, which raises concerns.

”As the Uganda Law Society, we call upon all security agencies to act within the confines of the law while executing their duties. We wish to remind the security forces, in line with the sentiments expressed by Hon. Nobert Mao during his recent address here, Advocate Mudiobole is neither a terrorist nor a murderer.”

Isiko further revealed that such actions leave many unanswered questions and suggest irregular practices that must be clarified to the public.

” We strongly condemn these actions and urge all security agencies to comply with the rule of law; if someone is to be detained, it must be done in a lawful manner, in a recognised facility and with notification given to their legal representation and next of kin.” Isiko asserted.

Mudiobole, who went missing last week on Friday, has been charged with “unlawful drilling” for taking part in the people power parade.

According to charges read out by Grade One Magistrate Kaibei Cherotich on May 21, Mudiobole and others still at large are accused of organising a political rally in Kasolo Village, Bulamagi Sub-county, Iganga District, where they allegedly conducted military drills involving hundreds of youth.
