Lawyers Embroiled in Forgery Claims Over Contentious Land Dispute

KAMPALA, Uganda | Robert Senfuka and Umar Nyanzi, both city lawyers and partners at SK and Partners Advocates, have been summoned to appear before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Buganda Road on November 28, 2024. The summons relate to allegations of forgery and uttering false documents in a land dispute involving Pastor Daniel Walugembe.

The contested property is located in Kimwanyi Zone, Kasule Road, opposite the Government Analytical Laboratory near Mulago Traffic Lights. Pastor Walugembe alleges that the land sale agreements presented by the lawyers were forged and altered. He claims his original agreements, dated February 9, 1996, and August 13, 1996, bear certificates of translation, unlike the disputed documents.

The lawyers are accused of representing Dr. Ntwatwa Lule in the case and knowingly presenting altered agreements as part of their client’s claim to the land. It is further alleged that Deputy Registrar of the High Court’s Land Division, Jeneva Natukunda, certified the disputed documents in error, raising questions about the certification process.

The summoned lawyers are expected to appear in court on December 2 when both parties are expected for the hearing of the case.
