Mubajje sacks Magumba as Bugweri District Khadi over fake academic papers

KAMPALA, Uganda | The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has dismissed Kadhi of Bugweri Muslim District Sheikh Huzaima Magumba from his position over allegations of fake academic papers.

In a letter dated May 26, 2025, signed by the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, it was revealed that investigations conducted showed that Magumba’s documents were fake, which violates UMSC’s constitution.

“This act constitutes a serious violation of the UMSC Constitution, particularly Article 19(3)(b), which outlines the required qualifications for the position of District Kadhi,” Mufti Mubajje noted.

According to Mubajje, the decision was made to preserve the integrity and credibility of the Muslim leadership in Uganda.

“This action is necessary to uphold the values of honesty and accountability in our leadership and to maintain the trust of the Muslim community in Bugweri and the nation at large,” the Mufti Mubajje said

Magumba’s dismissal follows a formal complaint raised by concerned members of the Muslim community in Bugweri questioning the authenticity of Sheikh Magumba’s Thanawi certificate, a key academic requirement for his appointment.
