Nakawa Vocational Institute accountant remanded for false academic documents

KAMPALA, Uganda| The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), working together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Uganda Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has arraigned an accountant at Nakawa Vocational Institute before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Court on charges of forgery and uttering false documents.

Samuel Wampero is accused of falsifying several academic documents, including Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results purportedly issued by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

He is also alleged to have forged a diploma and bachelor’s degree transcripts from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kyambogo University.

“He presented these documents to the Education Service Commission in 2004 with the intention to deceive and defraud in order to secure employment with the Ministry of Education and Sports,” the SHACU said.

Wampero has been remanded until April 22, 2025.
