Ssemakadde to sue Next Media for defamation.

KAMPALA, Uganda The Uganda Law Society president Isaac Ssemakadde has issued intention sue Mr Kin Kariisa of Next Media Group in connection with the broadcast titled, ” BANG THE GOLD: RADICAL NEW GOLD SCAM” An investigative story aired on the 5th of May 2025 across Next Media Group’s platforms, including television, radios, websites, apps and social media, and further amplified by employees’ online platforms.

Ssemakadde through Mukibbi & Kyeyune Advocates say that the report contains false, defamatory and damaging allegations against their client, accusing him of conspiracy and fraud without substantiation.

Mukiibi & Kyeyune Advocates further assert that their client’s actions have caused significant reputational harm, emotional distress and financial loss.

They also assert that to resolve the matter, Next Media should retract and offer a public apology during prime time broadcasts across all Next Media group platforms and published on all associated media accounts.

They further ask for USD 3,000,000 as compensatory and punitive damages for the harm caused and also the preservation of all relevant evidence, including but not limited to broadcast footage, internal communication, and a court-ordered retraction, without further notice.
