KAMPALA, Uganda | Popular socialite Nasser Nduhukire, commonly known as Don Nasser, has been committed to the High Court to face charges of aggravated trafficking in children and defilement. The decision was made on Monday, November 25, 2024, by Her Worship Sanula Nambozo during proceedings at the Buganda Road Magistrates Court in Kampala.
Nasser, alongside his co-accused, Ateete Promise, faces allegations stemming from incidents that occurred in May 2024. According to the prosecution, the two are accused of luring minors into drug use and subsequent exploitation.
Commital papers presented by the prosecution allege that one of the victims, a teenage girl, had recently returned to Uganda to retake her International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams. On May 3, 2024, while living with her aunt in Naguru, the girl disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Her guardians tracked her phone, linking her last communication to Ateete Promise.
The prosecution further alleges that Promise used the social media platform Snapchat to connect with the victim and lure her to meet Nasser at a bar in Kampala. There, Promise reportedly received 800,000 UGX from Nasser for facilitating the encounter. The victim was later taken to Tagore Living Apartments, where she was allegedly drugged and subjected to an HIV test before being sexually assaulted.
After hearing the prosecution’s submissions, Her Worship Nambozo committed Nasser and Promise to the High Court to face trial for aggravated trafficking in children and defilement, offenses under the Penal Code Act, CAP 120. Both charges carry severe penalties if proven, including life imprisonment.
The case is still ongoing, and no verdict has been reached. Under Uganda’s legal framework, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The committal hearing is a procedural step to transition the matter to the High Court for a full trial.
